Twenty-three-year-old Air Force firefighter Dominic Dubas was visiting Texas on vacation recently when he was struck by a vehicle at high speed while walking on a public sidewalk and left gravely injured for 40 minutes until a bystander intervened. Authorities filed felony hit-and-run charges in the incident, alleging the suspect later fled to Mexico and had been in the United States illegally.
After nearly a month of treatment for life-threatening injuries, Dominic remains in serious condition but stable enough to finally return home to Nebraska, where he will continue his recovery supported by his family.
We applaud Dominic, his mother Melissa, and the entire Dubas family for their courage and resilience in publicly sharing their ordeal to help raise awareness.
