Johns Island, SC – A North American air ambulance provider recently partnered with ISBAO Stage-3 and DoD CARB-certified FAA Part 135 operator Jet Logistics Inc. to complete a complex international air ambulance mission from Portugal to the United States for a patient. The mission demonstrated the proven flexibility and global reach of Jet Logistics’ AeroMedOPSTM program – using the client’s medical team and supplemental lift from JLI’s fleet of aircraft.

The joint operation dispatched from a Jet Logistics base in Phoenix, AZ to Lisbon, Portugal, to recover a patient requiring critical care transport and safely transport them, along with a family member, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mission required six separate domestic and international flight segments, including fuel stops in the Azores and St. John’s, Newfoundland, traveling round-trip between the United States and Portugal.

Operationally, the entire mission covered three countries, two continents and one ocean – covering 9,500 statute miles and 21 flight hours over three days. To view a 90-second video documenting this Portugal-USA mission, visit: https://jetlogistics.us/sales-marketing/#aeromedops-portugal-us

To support this patient transport, the client leveraged two key advantages of Jet Logistics’ AeroMedOPSTM program: access to supplemental aircraft resources, and Jet Logistics’ worldwide operational capabilities. For this mission, Jet Logistics provided a Hawker 800XP mid-size jet and flight crew experienced in long range international air ambulance operations, while the client supplied its own NAAMTA-certified medical transport team.

“This mission perfectly demonstrates the flexibility and unique strategic value our clients gain by partnering with Jet Logistics and leveraging our AeroMedOPSTM air medical transport solutions,” said W. Ashley Smith, Jr., CEO of Jet Logistics Inc. Holding Group. “By combining our client’s highly trained medical team with Jet Logistics’ supplemental aircraft resources, FAA worldwide operating authority, and international operations expertise, we enabled them to successfully complete a complex, multi-continent patient transport mission that extended beyond the international range and operating capabilities of their existing North American fleet.”

In 2026, Jet Logistics is celebrating its 15th anniversary of launching its AeroMedOPSTM and GovOPSTM divisions. With more than 20 years of international air medical, government contracting, and special operations aviation experience, Jet Logistics maintains worldwide operating authority and supports a broad range of domestic and international medical transport requirements for healthcare providers, government agencies, and specialized air medical operators.
